MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean

Andy Amalfitano

Andrea Amalfitano, D.O., Ph.D., is dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and an Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Endowed professor of Pediatrics, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics.

Amalfitano earned bachelor’s degree in microbiology in 1984 and a doctorate in microbiology in 1989, both from MSU. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1990 from the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine's D.O./Ph.D. dual-degree program.

He completed a pediatrics residency at the Mayo Clinic and a fellowship at the University of Michigan Department of Human Genetics. Before returning to MSU, he was an associate professor at Duke University in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Pathology, Molecular Genetics and Microbiology.
